Business owners in NSW will have better clarity about the requirements to clean their premises following a positive case of COVID-19 with new guidelines now available online.

Minister for Finance and Small Business Damien Tudehope said COVID-19 had presented a number of challenges for business owners.

"There is no denying COVID-19 has changed the way we interact with one another on a daily basis, including how we dine, shop and go about working," Mr Tudehope said.

"The NSW Government is committed to getting the State back to business, which is why we remain focused on thorough contact tracing and cleaning of facilities when a positive case has been identified.

"We've launched an updated set of guidelines to guide businesses through the requirements of cleaning their premises following a positive COVID-19 case, enabling them to stay open."

Mr Tudehope said the cleaning process outlined would save businesses money at a time when every dollar counts.

"These new guidelines are great news for businesses, as they don't need to bring in a specialist deep cleaning team which could cost tens of thousands of dollars," Mr Tudehope said.

Minister for Better Regulation Kevin Anderson said SafeWork NSW has also developed a range of practical advice tailored to each industry to help them operate their day-to-day business safely.

"There are so many simple things businesses can do to make sure that a single COVID case doesn't lead to a breakout, so whether you're a shoe shop or a local bakery, make sure you head online and download your COVID Safe checklist," Mr Anderson said.

"Not only will your staff feel safer coming into work, but these easy to implement and inexpensive measures will ensure you are doing your bit to prevent the spread of COVID in the broader community."
